Happy 50th Birthday, “Weird Al” Yankovic

weird-al-smallerParodist, accordionist, and Idolator patron saint “Weird Al” Yankovic turns 50 today, and what better way to celebrate a half-century of his existence than to post a bunch of his videos? End the week laughing, that’s what I say. OK, get ready for the food jokes!

“I Love Rocky Road”

“I Lost On Jeopardy”

“Dare to be Stupid”

“UHF”

(This movie is pretty much out of date, isn’t it? Well, at least until Ion or MyNetworkTV give up the ghost…)

“Smells Like Nirvana”

“Angry White Boy Polka”

“You’re Pitiful” (heh heh)

And a few clips from AlTV, his takeover of MTV that would air every so often:
“Harvey The Wonder Hamster” theme song

AlTV T-shirt ad

AlTV News (1992)

Jokes about Guns N’ Roses and artists who are willing to spread their endorsements far and wide? Some things never change. Happy birthday Al! Without you, the Internet would probably be a lot less… Internet.

Best song made entirely of cliches: “Dare to be Stupid.”

@BradNelson: “Mashed potatoes can be your friend” is only a cliche because it’s the straight-up truth.

True that. Also, there’s a bunch of F2K potentials in “Angry White Boy Polka.”

There are certain songs that I can now only always and forever hear in my head in their polka form, such as “My Girl Wants to Party All the Time” and “Jocko Homo”. Happy birthday, good sir.
