Adam Lambert: Making A Statement Without Leaping An Octave

adamlambert_foryourentertainment_coverSo, that’s the cover for Adam Lambert’s unfortunately titled For Your Entertainment. But how does the Michelin Man costume that he was wearing for an album-art-related photo shoot fit in??? And will the actual real cover really sparkle, for extra, er, sparklosity? A world waits.

Your neck’s gonna get stuck like that.

  2. Looks like the folks who used to design covers for No Limit Records have branched out into emo pop.

I have to say that it’s kind of ballsy of him to make a move that will draw Blake Lewis comparisons

Is it only me who thinks this should’ve been an exact duplicate of the Gaga cover, and the album should be entitled ALSO THE FAME?

    OMGOMGOMG

Is this really the album cover?

You guys, this is blowing my mind. That an album in 2009 would look like this. WOW.

Adam Lambert (and/or everyone involved with the production of this cover) has a fantastic sense of humor.

I believe the Michelin Man costume was referencing another openly gay glam singer from the early 70s, Jobriath. Here’s a video with the similar costume: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Lp_e4wUnz4 Jobriath should have been huge, but people weren’t yet ready for his flamboyant sexuality. Don’t think Adam will have the same problem. I think his LP cover is pretty rad for its androgyny. Remember, midwestern housewives are going to buy the bulk of his records, so it’s cool that they will be getting a taste of gay culture to go with their Michael W. Smith records.

Is this coming out on Jerrica Benton’s label Starlight Music?

Also, what happens when you run this through Blingee? Does the Internet collapse?

please someone make a real life Jem movie and cast Glambert in the role of Pizzazz

@CandiceJones: HA just saw this. exactly.

I can’t tell if the people behind this album artwork are serious or not. Is that the response they are intending? The galaxy in the background is atrocious. Is Adam laughing or crying right now?

Why is Pink on that Scorpions album cover?

I don’t really mind the fact that the photo is the worst ever, or that he has been airbrushed into an almost unrecognizable version of himself, or the fact that a slightly chubby white guy without his shirt (and with makeup) on does not a sex symbol make. But what I do mind are horrific fonts, and this has officially snatched the title away from Cheryl Cole’s album campaign for damn-that’s-the-worst-font-of-2009. If his album “artists” wanted to go for futurism, a minimalist font combined with a solid background (hell they could have even made it neon if they had to) would have been loads better.

And I dare say, I have perused gay pornos whose covers looked exceptionally similar in tone and content.

This album cover looks like a La Roux, Tokio Hotel, and something Davey Havok would like.

I’ll preface this comment by saying that all of my American Idol knowledge comes from the posts and clips that I see on this site (I skip watching the show and wait for the recaps here). That being said - wow. This can’t really be the actual album art. When aliens land centuries from now and begin to unearth our culture, they wont be able to accurately place the decade which this came from.

This is the reason I don’t believe in a god.

@k-rex: That is exactly what I was thinking!

    He looks like Battlestar Galactiqueen.

@SirLoin: More like “people hated his crappy music”.

It really does look like a mid 80s Samantha Fox or T’Pau album cover.

  20. by brasstax at 10:39 am

@Nicolars: No, it just looks like someone trying to imitate a cover like that and getting it wrong. It’s got 2009 all over it.

  21. by Nicolars at 11:20 am

I am probably thinking more of the makeup job.

Actually, I think it looks like my puffy Lisa Frank trapper keeper from 6th grade. (http://www.colourlovers.com/uploads/2009/03/lisa-frank-2.jpg)
