Morrissey Is Still Feeling Pretty Lousy, Thanks For Asking

58648289Mopemaster Morrissey’s Tuesday show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, his first concert since his onstage collapse on Saturday, was marked by what reviewer Priya Elan referred to as “bloated” arrangements of some of his classic tracks and an unhealthy appearance by the man himself. Underlining—and adding lots of exclamation points to—the general sourness in the room was Moz’s alteration of the most sacred of texts, the lyrics to “How Soon Is Now?”

“There’s a club if you’d like to go
You could meet somebody who can actually stand you
So you go and you stand on your own
and leave on your own. What a big surprise.

And almost as if to drive the point that he was in a really lousy frame of mind home, once that song ended “he re-enacted the Swindon incident, curving up into the foetal position under the spotlight as a gong crashed behind him. ‘Thank you Swindon,’ he said when he finally stood up.” Yipes. Um, anyone else think that he might have put an extra day or two of rest to good use?

I saw him in Michigan a couple years ago and he concluded “How Soon Is Now” by curling up in the fetal position. I think it’s part of his show. He does take moping to new heights after all.

He’s still my favorite artist of all time and when he dies I will take to my bed for a month the end.

Yeah, he’s done the curling on the floor in the fetal position thing many times during “How Soon Is Now” because it’s got that extended outro and there’s really nothing left for him to do.

He probably just needs to get laid.

This is the best Idolator headline in ages. What, did someone expect him to say he was feeling better after twenty years?

He gave me ‘This Charming Man’ how can I not love him?
