Chris Brown debuted the cover for his forthcoming album Graffiti on Twitter last night, and the Purple Rain font, slung-over-the-shoulder guitar, and mess of animals either threatening him or ready to be spawned by him. I first saw the cover on the relatively tiny screen of my phone, and the color scheme of the blob in the lower right-hand corner really did make me do a “wait, is he doing that Alvin & The Chipmunks sequel’s music??” double-take. (Not to mention that his outfit does seem to be missing something…)

See, I think this is much, much stupider than the GLambert cover, which at least shows cheek and self-deprecation.
Why on EARTH would someone trying to rebuild his image after the horrific Rihanna incident pose as someone who looks ready to attack? He’s got the guitar up like he’s going to smash the shit out of those little Garbage Pail critters. Maybe I’m just reading into it b/c of his history, but surely I won’t be the only one.
And really, you have an album called “Graffiti” and this is the best art you can come up with? Points for not being obvious, I guess, but this is the alternative? Galaxy defenders, clap clap?
