As for “Teardrops”, I also fail to see how she’s skanky in that one. Again, she seems resigned that the girl is luckier than her. Longing for someone with a boyfriend or girlfriend is a pretty universal thing for teens. I kinda like how Taylor takes the “it sucks but hey we’ve all been through it” approach rather than telling them to proactively do something about it as you seem to infer. It’s a good message. You should also listen to “Fifteen”. It’s kind of captures her whole outlook on being a teen and it’s very nice and positive.

Avril, however, has pretty questionable morals, true. Don’t lump them in together.

Whatever your opinion of her music is beside the point. From an objective industry perspective she was gonna win this, Kanye or not.

It’s funny because while the rest of the world was in shock and awe about kanye’s diss, I was at home watching this and thinking “HELL’S YEAH! :D”

I also don’t like the idea of her releasing songs like “teardrops on my guitar” and “You belong with me”. In my opinion these songs are making it okay for girls to long for a guy even though he does have a girlfriend. I also have the same beef with avril when she released “girlfriend”. It’s just all wrong and just teaching young girls to be skanky.

That being said, she’s pretty fucking terrible.

Somehow, I think that lack of talent helps Swift’s cause. Her material is allright, and she comes off as a lot more wholesome and human than all those auto-tuned tween-bots. You – and your whole family! – can hear her giving a damn.

Uh…at least she sings live? I don’t know why, but I always find myself defending her, even before this whole It-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named VMAs Incident.

That said, Taylor Swift is a terrible singer. Fair as an actor, but a terrible singer.

However, I do know enough to note that it is also exciting that Taylor Swift won Entertainer of the Year because she is a woman, not just a young woman. Sure, Carrie won last year, but wasn’t she the first female to win since Shania Twain in the mid-90s.

Love her or hate her, you’ve got to admit if the title is “Entertainer of the Year,” she deserved it above the other nominees–except for maybe Sugarland.

I am shocked at the swift deterioration of what was once one of the first sites I checked out each day. It is now nothing more than Lady Gaga / American Idol worshiping that I could find on any tween Livejournal page.

Thanks for fucking it all up. And the witless musings of Robbie and Becky isn’t going to draw even close to what is being sent out the door with heads shaking.

Look, we all know how this is going to end. The hard-core Idolator 1.0 fans will gradually give up the commenting and leave the site for good. But damn if I don’t respect Brasstax for at least putting up a fight, however futile it may be.

It will certainly be interesting what this site looks like in a few months, to say the least.
