Have A Listen To Allison Iraheta’s ‘Just Like You’ Song Clips

iraheta

“Technology sucks! (Sucks!) I wish I could change all your numbers, put your phone underwater,” belts big-voiced Allison Iraheta in her Gary Glitter/”Rock and Roll parts 1 & 2″-leaning Just Like You album track, “Robot Love.” That one’s sandwiched between two glossed-up Max Martin numbers, the single “Friday I’ll Be Over U” and the very MM-style ballad “Just Like You.”

But, as is often the case, it’s the best track that gets relegated to the end of the album—the Kevin Rudolf co-penned “Beat Me Up” (catch it below at 5:32 in).

You sort of wanna love this album, Allison being the underdog, the Idol kid with the raspy-but-golden pipes, etc. But nothing really stands up to “Beat Me Up.” Not even the surprisingly disappointing Greg Wells (Mika, Katy Perry) and Pink tune, “No One Else,” which comes just before it.

Ah, Allison. Maybe it’s a grower. Here’s the tracklisting for Just Like You, which is out December 1:

1. “Friday I’ll Be Over U”

2. “Robot Love”

3. “Just Like You”

4. “Don’t Waste The Pretty”

5. “Scars”

6. “Pieces”

7. “D Is For Dangerous”

8. “Holiday”

9. “Still Breathing”

10. “Trouble Is”

11. “No One Else”

12. “Beat Me Up”

13. “You Don’t Know Me”

Everytime I see this woman, I’m more attracted to her. And I’m starting to make peace with this.

Kelly Clarkson’s first album had what… maybe 3 or 4 good songs? I wasn’t exactly expecting more from Allison. Maybe even less. It’s the second album I’m really interested in hearing.

Well, for one, Trouble is is not the Greg Wells/Kara/Pink song. That one is No one else.

Also, this are 30 seconds of each song, can we wait until the entire album is out to judge her music? Is that too much to ask for? Judging the album based on 10% of the songs seems drastic.

@Mari: That’s how things get done here now, unfortunately. Just like predicting album sales from Amazon pre-order numbers. Der.

@Mari: gotcha Mari, thanks. Hoping the album’s a grower, as I said.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that this is out there for people to preview the album, but I don’t think we can make an informed decision on the album until we hear the whole songs.

So far, I like it. It’s seems to be pretty much as good or better as can be expected for a 4th place finisher 17 year old girl coming off of American Idol. There are a lot of songs in here with tons of potential.

@Robbie: Robbie, even if you’re not responding to me (ever), I appreciate that you’re engaging with readers. Becky should try it occasionally.

Play through the clips at least 3 times. I think this is a very strong album with potential for a number of hit singles. Everybody has different tastes in music but I notice when reading the various reviews and comments that people choose differnt songs to comment on as the ones they liked. What one person likes another doesn’t like all based on a 30 second clip. This is clear sign of a strong album because most people find more than one they like without hearing the whole song. While they are only 30 second clips I heard something I like in every one of the clips that has me wanting to her the whole song.
