Dirty Projectors’ Bitte Orca was released only five months back, and already Idolator-approved singer Solange Knowles has offered up a slow groove cover of the New York band’s “Stillness Is The Move.” Pitchfork posted an MP3 of the new version yesterday, but got their wrists slapped by Universal and had to yank it off the site. Good thing we found another clip on YouTube!
Check out Solange’s rendition of “Stillness Is The Move,” which samples Soul Mann & The Brothers’ “Bumpy’s Lament,” and Dirty Projectors’ original after the jump.
Not a bad Friday jam. (Alternate - and @solangeknowles-approved - link at Concrete Loop.)
“Bumpy’s Lament” was also worked into Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady” nearly ten years ago. It was used in Dr. Dre’s “Xxplosive,” too, but if we posted that you’d have to cover Junior’s ears.

Wait - so it’s okay to post videos with Gaga’s nipples but not this?

Oh, and fyi, more Solange is just alright with me.
Indie rock returns to Idolator. Well, kinda. More please.
I honestly didn’t care who it was going to be, but I’m glad to finally see mention of ANY artist/band that’s never going to be a featured performer at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards!
More of this, please.
Thank you for not posting the Dr. Dre song. I don’t want to see any of that rap hop here on my favorite Lady Gaga PR site. Those people use sware words!
You can get the mp3 pretty easily on hype machine.
