First up, we couldn’t resist that horrible headline. Now on to the news: Jay-Z has signed the Ting Tings to his Roc Nation label, and as a welcome gift, he wants to collaborate with the U.K. duo on their next album. That’s definitely going to work. Definitely.
Reports the Daily Star:
“Jay is hoping to lend his production skills to some of the new material. The Staccato rhythmic style of The Ting Tings sits well with what he does best, so that was the attraction. Jay can make them one of the biggest British bands in America.”
Jay-Z definitely has an ear for British pop tunes—he also signed British trio Sugababes to his label, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a cameo on their upcoming album, Sweet 7. (Maybe he shoulda taken over Keisha’s vocals?) You can pretty much add Jay-Z’s rapping to anything—Fall Out Boy, Coldplay, Linkin Park, The Beatles, or even Radiohead—and it comes out amazing.
Maybe MGMT should reconsider collaborating with Hova, hmm?

LOL “welcome gift.” More like contractual imperative.
If Jay does a song with the Ting Tings, maybe the artist formerly known as Hannah Montana will finally hear one of his songs.

You should have at least tried.

Jay should look to his former partner Damon Dash for collaborations that are actually worth a crap: http://www.blakroc.com
@mahkiavelli: Becky only discovered mash-ups yesterday, I think.
Ill admit the Jay-Z Linkin Park colab was unexpectedly awesome Tings Tings have such an unusual sound it will be interesting to see how he implements himself into it.
@Hun*ter: That was Idolator-1.0-worthy funny.
