Unfortunately the pop market in the States is cornered by either the unholy Trinity of Rap/hiphop/urban R&B, the Eurodance Weirdos, or the Disney crowd. Virtually anyone else who is not of those three categories is forced to go country to have a viable career on radio in the US.

The current Taylor Swift/Carrie Underwood-esque cross over pop-country seems exactly where this would fall under if it were in the states.

On a side-note I find it rather hard to even consider Taylor Swift a country artist at all, its like soft-pop-rock/soft-pop? I like her nonetheless.

Only visited Nashville once-for a wedding and I have to say at every instance, the people were about the friendliest I’ve ever met. Although it will be hard to sell Nick Carter as a country artist, I don’t think Jennifer Paige has enough recognition in the US as any particular type of artist to be pegged as only pop. She is from Atlanta-on the Youtube video of the “making” of this video she has a VERY southern accent. She could definately make it country in US and song structure, lyrics this is as country as Shania Twain ever was/wasn’t. At this point though in American pop-she just seems to NORMAL to appeal to Top 40 American pop.

@brasstax: Oh, I can totally see it, song structure-wise. It worked for "What Hurts The Most" and "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You." I'm thinking it'd need to be by a completely different artist (or artists) though. Beautiful city, Nashville...only ever spent a weekend there.

@Robbie: Actually, I agree with Marianna. If they nu-countried it up for the US market, it might be a hit. I feel like I'm probably dissing an entire fanbase here because I don't really know what those people like (even though I lived in Nashville for 4 years), but it sounds like it could be country-pop just as easily as it is euro-pop.

I actually like it. I just figured it would be super cheesy but it’s not nice surprise and I agree this defiantly seems more suited for the current US market.

I actually quite like that–but probably would do better in the US in the country genre! But their voices blend very well together and the song sounds great. How appropriate is the video with news of the Hollywood Burgler Bunch all over the place!
