False alarm, folks. Chris Brown won’t be causing any (additional) double-standard controversy by singing on Good Morning America right after the ABC morning news show nixed a performance by non-babysitter Adam Lambert. Chris will now be promoting his album Graffiti by—what else—talking about his beating of Rihanna. Again.
After pleading the fifth and tiptoeing through questions during interviews with Larry King, MTV and Wendy Williams, Brown is expected to finally “come clean” with GMA host Robin Roberts about what happened that night when the interview airs on 20/20 on December 11. Will many of you feel better after you hear the words come from Chris’ own mouth? Or should we (and Brown and Rihanna) just try to move on?
Trying to fit in one last vague interview before spilling his guts, Brown called in to DJ Whoo Kid’s radio show, revealing to the DJ that he’s in “a better place,” but noted that (really, you better sit down for this, it’s a stunner) “winning people back over and just really making people see the good person I am is kind of hard.” Indeed it is, although DJ Whoo Kid points out that in a poll with his viewers, 70% of women polled forgive Brown for beating Rihanna.
That’s seventy percent. Amazing, isn’t it? Do you have to forgive somebody’s reprehensible behavior in order to enjoy their creative output? Or if you love the art, you must love the artist, and vice versa? We don’t find it incredibly shocking that people are listening to Chris’ music again, but to completely forgive the man for beating up his girlfriend?
We almost would prefer if Brown performed on GMA instead of participating in yet another interview; while we certainly don’t forgive Brown for his actions, we’re really tired of hearing about them.

This emphasizes the double standard, as the risk with Lambert was that he’d go wild in another performance, while the risk with Brown is that he’ll treat smackin’ his woman around as justified. Little as I like Lambert’s style, his album dropping is legitimately news in a way that Brown’s overdue confessional is not, and he has a point that no one’s getting hurt in his “look how shocking I am!” performances (unless getting hurt is fun, and he hasn’t gone there yet).
Non-shocker of the day: His Graffiti is apparently very mediocre
What’s the point of having Chris on? We want to hear the music not hear yet another apology and another long winded explanation of what happened in the car. They had a darn fight over another woman–next. Tiger Woods’ wife just beat the crap out of him with a golf club over another woman, it happens!! Where’s the music? Adam Lambert’s shocker threw me for a loop but perhaps it was fueled then by his unwillingness to see that it was inappropriate for an award show to have a man’s head in his genital area! Wake up dude, it didn’t bother me, but neither did Janet’s breast flash and look what happened with her. America is easily offended!
I AM A HUGE SUPPORTER FOR CHRIS BROWN, HE IS THE MOST TALENTED ARTIST IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW. WHETHER U AGREE OR NOT. ITS A GOOD THING HE WONT BE PERFORMING BECAUSE IT’LL LOOK REALLY WRONG. BUT I WOULD LOVE SEEING HIM PERFORM. BUT FOR HIS OWN GOOD HE SHOULDNT. WHTA HE DID WAS WRONG WE GET IT MOVE ON. ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO TIME TRAVEL, SO IT HAPPENED! WHATEVER! RIHANNA MOVE PAST IT, CHRIS BROWN IS TRYING TO. WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD TOO! CHRIS BROWN UR DETROIT SHOW WAS AMAZING ON NOVEMBER 25,2009. I WAS THE GIRL WITH THE SCARF. HOPEFULLY U REMEMBER! I LOVE YA WE THE FANS WILL SATND BY URSIDE NO MATTER WHAT. U INSPIRE US, NO ONE IS PERFECT. BUT THERE IS CLOSE TO PERFECT LIKE U LOL
