Kelly Clarkson Adds ‘Rock With You’ To Her Endless List of Cover Songs

Last night at her stop in San Jose, Kelly Clarkson teamed up with her tour opener Eric Hutchinson to sing Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You.” Though this duet doesn’t rank up there with our favorite Kelly Clarkson covers—they’re mainly just having some fun, dancing around the stage, rockin’ out to some MJ—it’s another example of her probably under-appreciated versatility. (Gosh, wouldn’t she be great on American Idol?)

So what are our favorite Kelly covers? Check out our Top 5 after the jump:

Annie Lennox “Why”

Patsy Cline “Walking After Midnight”
White Stripes “Seven Nation Army”
Alanis Morissette “That I Would Be Good” mashed up with Kings of Leon “Use Somebody”
Miley Cyrus “The Climb”

Not that we don’t enjoy Kelly’s original music, whether it’s the happy-go-lucky vibe of All I Ever Wanted or the darker tunes heard on My December, but she should definitely consider releasing an entire album full of covers. And she can start with these five songs. (Maybe leave “Rock With You” for karaoke nights.)

But hey, she can do whatever she wants.
