Kelly Clarkson Adds ‘Rock With You’ To Her Endless List of Cover Songs

Last night at her stop in San Jose, Kelly Clarkson teamed up with her tour opener Eric Hutchinson to sing Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You.” Though this duet doesn’t rank up there with our favorite Kelly Clarkson covers—they’re mainly just having some fun, dancing around the stage, rockin’ out to some MJ—it’s another example of her probably under-appreciated versatility. (Gosh, wouldn’t she be great on American Idol?)

So what are our favorite Kelly covers? Check out our Top 5 after the jump:

Annie Lennox “Why”

Patsy Cline “Walking After Midnight”

White Stripes “Seven Nation Army”

Alanis Morissette “That I Would Be Good” mashed up with Kings of Leon “Use Somebody”

Miley Cyrus “The Climb”

Not that we don’t enjoy Kelly’s original music, whether it’s the happy-go-lucky vibe of All I Ever Wanted or the darker tunes heard on My December, but she should definitely consider releasing an entire album full of covers. And she can start with these five songs. (Maybe leave “Rock With You” for karaoke nights.)

But hey, she can do whatever she wants.

EVEN ZOMBIEBOT GETTING TOO BORED OF IDOLATOR 2.0 TO POST. AND POSTING ON IDOLATOR 2.0 IS ZOMBIEBOT'S PRIME DIRECTIVE.

I think you have to give the respect to Jill and Kate that they deserve... they covered The Climb, Kelly was doing background vocals. If you think The Climb is good, check out their other stuff at http://jillandkate.wordpress.com/

I was at the SJ concert, and the duet cover of "Rock with You" was a BLAST! I just wish that Kelly had sung more of the song, but the crowd had fun with it.

for better or for worse, there are easily three times as many comments on most of these posts than there used to be

    @drunkwithpower:

It should be noted that the only posts that generate any substantial # of comments are related to either a) Lady Gaga b) Adam Lambert c) Chris Brown.

And usually those comments are along the lines of:

"even haters like u, can admit his album is awesome, wow its amazing this is the best album of 2009, hands down. its gonna kill rihanna’s crappy album. no one can hold down true talent. chris is the next mj, he is back to take the throne"

I miss the days where you actually had to sign-in to post...would get rid of a lot of the ridiculous comments posted by people who have simply done a Google News Search of Lambert/Brown?Gaga, post a rant, and then are never to be heard from again.

This is one of those lists people are bound to complain about at least a bit but you guys did a pretty kick-ass job.

However, i MUST say that "Up To The Mountain" NEEDS mentioning on this list ;) It's become practically her signature cover hit.
