Mary J. Blige’s Album Cover Shows Her ‘Stronger’ Than Ever

December 1st, 2009 // 10 Comments

Mary J. Blige is just about the prettiest sad person you’ll ever find on an album cover. She looks older and wiser on this minimalist cover, but she sure has aged gracefully. (Check out Soul Bounce’s Month of Mary retrospective to flashback to all of MJB’s ever-changing looks.) Mary’s Stronger Wtih Each Tear comes out December 21, so make sure to pick it up, or sad Mary will be making that puppy dog face at you forever. For now, watch Mary tear it up, X-mas style, as she accompanies legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli on “What Child Is This” on yesterday’s Oprah Holiday Music Extravaganza. Yes, everything that happens on Oprah from now until her very last show is news. (Clip after the jump.)

Sure, it’s no “Someday at Christmas,” but if Mary wants to sing slightly corny,  whimsical X-mas songs, we won’t stop her. This seasonal duet can be heard on Bocelli’s My Christmas album, as well as every mall you’ll be shopping at for the next month.

that’s actually scar. not a tear. have you guys ever actually looked a picture of this woman?

  2. xolondon

I was just about to say the same thing. Look at the Mary album (the one with All That I Can Say) and you’ll see the scar more prominently displayed.

Longtime reader, first-time commenter. I can’t believe that 1) the site is reviewing an album cover and 2) all you have to say is that she’s aging well?! I thought this site fell off since the changing of the guard, but this MJB “post” confirms it. Yes, I’m skeptical of calling this a “post” because it anyone who read this once understands it was merely a ploy to get on Geffen’s good side. All that was missing was the “promotion” display on top.

  4. @xolondon: We’ve actually never noticed her scar much – chalk it up to good makeup, camera angles or us focusing on Mary’s chic hairstyles and wardrobe instead of the small scar on her face. Also the “tear” in the album’s name may have thrown us off. Anyways, thanks for the heads up, both of you.

who is this “we” that Becky is always talking about? or is perhaps Becky employing the royal “we”?

  6. xolondon

Hmmmm. Yeah, I focus on her music too. I am not the enemy, Becky. It was merely a clarification.
