Just in time for Green Day’s two Grammy nods for “21 Guns” comes the band’s re-recorded version of the tune featuring the cast of the American Idiot musical. (And with Glee going off the air for four months after next week’s episode, we’ll take it!)

Spinner is now streaming the new rendition of the lauded track, which boasts Billie Joe Armstrong, American Idiot’s John Gallagher, Jr. and several other cast members on vocals.

“We wanted to record ‘21 Guns’ because it represents a pivotal moment in the show when the lead character … realizes he needs to get his sh*t together,” says Green Day frontman Armstrong—who produced the soaring new version—over on Spinner.

The band’s official site notes “21 Guns” 2.0 will be served up for purchase through digital retailers on December 22, and that band is shooting a full music video with the American Idiot cast.
