Naturally, Grammy Set To Honor Michael Jackson, As Well

mjSurely you didn’t think the Michael Jackson tribute blitz was going to suddenly stop after the BET Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, the American Music Awards, Janet Jackson’s ABC interview (and, hell, even the creepy Michael Jackson DNA-sampling cologne and pricey coffee table book), did you?

In fact, it was almost a forgone conclusion that the Grammy Awards would indeed be honoring Jackson during its upcoming January 31, 2010 telecast.

Rolling Stone reports that MJ will be honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. Other recipients are set to include Loretta Lynn, Bobby Darin, André Previn and Leonard Cohen.

Now if only the Academy can ensure that This Is It gets nominated for an Oscar. Or, hey, maybe Michael can be singled out for a belated, 31-years-after-the-fact special statue for his work as The Scarecrow in The Wiz?

In fact, YouTube user SpikeyHamster’s already compiled the singer’s best bits from the flick for voters:

Oh, we kid, we kid, MJ. May you keep on EEEEEEE-Heeeeeee-ing from now till eternity.

THIS IS JOSEPH SPENCER FROM KNOXVILLE TN AND I JUST WANT TO SAY SORRY TO THE JACKSON FAMILY AND ALL THE FANS ABOUT THE LOSS OF MJ.

  2. Reuben  |   Posted on Dec 14th, 2009

What a sarcastic wank the writer of this article is. Talk about green with envy. MJ is the King of Pop, period, deal with it and quit your whining.

  3. Sara  |   Posted on Dec 14th, 2009

How much more disrespectful can a writer be? Michael Jackson deserves so much more respect than this. He was massacred by people like you when he was alive (and might I say “wrongly massacred”). It’s time the media become respectful again. Let it start with a large public apology to the Jackson children and family for the many years of abuse that Michael put up with from people like you all the while being graceful in return? Why not show some grace in return. Thank you.

  4. Diane  |   Posted on Dec 14th, 2009

So, the writer decides to claim he/she is “kidding” at the end to cover their disrespectful smart-alec butt, huh?

It’s apparently too much to ask for the media to admit that MJ is the KING of not just pop, but MUSIC, and that every damn tribute he gets from now until eternity is WELL DESERVED and past due.

Robbie Daw hating on a dead man. You are pathetic.

  6. Elizabeth O  |   Posted on Dec 14th, 2009

Michael is the best entertainer there ever was & deserves every tribute he gets. It is about time. He should have gotten some of these before. I hate the media because of what they did when he was alive. They are such jerks. He did so much & I dont think enough has been done. He will always be the best You are the greatest Michael. The media has to keep going when they should stop. He will always be the best & is the King of Pop. I love you This writer is more then a jerk. THis person will never help or be known by as many as Michael ever was

  8. ComeOnEileen  |   Posted on Dec 14th, 2009

I comfort myself with the knowledge that there would have been an equal and opposite snarky post had the Grammies chosen NOT to do an MJ tribute, that one asking what the award show was thinking to neglect the greatest performer of the past couple decades.

  9. Shame on you, Sara! You and all the Michael Jackson fantards slander his victims by implying that they are liars. Three different young men came forward and told of the abuse they suffered at the hands of this monster – Jason Francia, Jordan Chandler, and Gavin Arvizo. They are the ones who should be remembered, not sicko Michael. Michael the Freak deserves every insult slung at him and then some.

  10. Never forget  |   Posted on Dec 14th, 2009

From Vanity Fair’s article on the trial:

“Francia testified that twice at Jackson’s ‘hideout’ apartment in Los Angeles the pop star had engaged him in tickling games during which he would move his hands over the boy’s genitalia on the outside of his shorts. ‘Pretty much at every tickle thing there was money,’ he said, adding that both times Jackson gave him a hundred-dollar bill. As he described a third time, at Neverland when he was about 10 and Jackson’s hands were inside his pants, his eyes welled up with tears, and he had to stop”

Really sad that people like the fantard freaks posting here would idolize a man who ruined children’s lives

Can someone buy Never forget a copy of Michael Jackson conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones? Or send him a court transcript.

  12. beau  |   Posted on Dec 15th, 2009

The writer was snarky and extremely disrespectful,The media hounded him inlife and continue to do so in death.shame on you

I just dont know where to begin with the accusers and their families, they were money-grubbing greedy jerks who wanted to extort michael.I am just amazed that people can actually believe such phony people.pls do some research to learn the truth you can start by reading the court transcripts.

MJ was one of the kindest person that ever lived and he is surely missed

  13. maizey  |   Posted on Dec 15th, 2009

To Jo, NeverForget and others who don’t read, reasearch and swallow tabloid and slander hook line and sinker. Why don’t you dig a little deeper. Gavin Arvizo, his mother and family were proven liars during the 2005 trial. Suggest reading “Aphrodite Jones” book “MICHAEL JACKSON CONSPIRACY”! He was proven innocent and acquitted of all charges. EVAN CHANDLER the father of JORDAN CHANDLER who trumped up the accusations against Michael just recently comitted suicide. Jordan Chandler had a restraining order against his father and refused to testify against Michael in court. Each of the mentioned boys were extortion motivated by family. Check it out. Read truthful books instead of the lies that have been written..Aphrodite Jones went into the trial believing he was guilty but after being there each day she realized the truth and writes about each day exact transcripts from the trial. Arvizos were liars and the mother used her kids attempting to extort money from Jackson..Check it out..

  14. Thank you, Maizey.
It is so irritating when people like Jo, who clearly read and bought into tabloid retardation and conspiracies, insist MJ was guilty. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence can look deeper into the situation and read ACCURATE information that poves MJ was completely innocent and that his accusors were a bunch of low-life crooks.

I also blame this on the media as well. They loved to slander MJ, but any positive news, they don’t nearly broadcast as much. At least our angel MJ is away from the idiocy now.

  15. If Michael Jackson was innocent and could prove he was innocent why would he pay in the high 7 figures to make the charges go away?

  16. Scarlett  |   Posted on Dec 16th, 2009

Why the payout to the 1st accuser in ‘93/’94? Because Michael’s lawyers, advisors, and record label all wanted him back to work instead of wasting 3 years of his life dragging the unfounded charges through the courts. They pushed for the payout. The facts are out there for all to see. See Aphrodite Jones’ excellent book. Michael was innocent in ‘93 and innocent in ‘05. The media skewered the man his entire life. He was the greatest entertainer ever. Now let him rest.

  17. Wow what a bunch of malarkey. Why would I read anything by a hack journalist like Aphrodite Jones? Ask yourself these questions: if Jackson was innocent and was being extorted why didn’t he go to the police and report the extortion, why would an innocent man pay $20 million to his accuser? I do hope Michael is resting in peace, because in life he was a tormented soul.

  20. MJ fan  |   Posted on Dec 16th, 2009

You really need to learn how to comment on something minus all the sarcasm. I have no respect for you as a writer. It is writers/journalists like you that MJ hated with the passion.

  21. MhS, the Chandler settlement was a decision that was made on Jackson's behalf by his insurance company. Nowhere in that settlement did it state that the criminal investigation into possible abuse would cease. The case was actually brought between three separate criminal courts and dismissed in all three due to overwhelming lack of evidence and the erratic behavior of Evan Chandler.

Additionally, any evidence accumulated in the Chandler proceedings was free for use in the 2004 case (which resulted in acquittal), and Jordan Chandler was called to testify against Michael Jackson, but refused to do so. (The young man has maintained to friends for the last decade that he was the victim of an abusive father, not Jackson.)

You can say what you will about Mrs. Jones, but she quotes the actual court transcripts, unlike the hacks at Vanity Fair who spread most of these disgusting and unsubstantiated rumors in the first place.

  22. MJfanforever  |   Posted on Dec 26th, 2009

Jackson didn't pay that settlement and he didn't want it to be paid. His insurance company paid it, against his wishes. Jackson wanted the case to proceed to trial so his innocence coould be proven, & was fully confident that it would be proven. However, his employer & advisors pressured him & his insurance carrier to settle out of court so he could concentrate on working rather than a long & drawn-out trial.

  23. MJfanforever  |   Posted on Dec 26th, 2009

Michael wasn't the only one who disliked gossip columnists & reporters who spread malicous rumors via a snicker, a joke, a deliciously horrific anecdote, innuendo, hints, & outright lies. I hate them. They should be held to printing facts rather than stories aimed at increasing their circulation.
