Nickelback
Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger has done some side gigs in his time—penning songs for Daughtry and Tim McGraw here, singing on tracks by Santana and Timbaland there. And while it's fully plausible to expect (or hope for) the band to eventually break up at some point in the next decade, there's always a Creed-like reunion to be wary of down the line. / View Original

I can't believe you didn't mention Taylor Swift!!!
In all honesty most of the acts out now will not be around in 2020. Just think about who was running billboard charts in '99 early 2000, most of them are long gone. A lot of acts can really only have a 5 to 7 year run at a massive level of popularity, if that. Can't wait until some artists take a nice long break (Taylor,Rihanna , Miley Cyrus and all the other non- singing singers). Less hype machine, more talent please!
Oh, I DEARLY hope so, for the sake of rock music.
Yeh, Lady Gaga is gonna be around in 2020. Her act won't grow tired…I mean, it hasn't already, or anything. 5 years is the cycle of a pop singer, even really great ones. And if someone characterizes her non autotuned voice as “singing”, and actually uses that as a badge of honor to describe as…a singer (can't dance, obviously), the case is made even more that people are already grasping at straws.
Acts that rise fast fall harder, especially ones that have children as their fanbase. Ooops, I hear a girl discovering David Bowie……….
It reminds me of that quote by Gene Kelly in the movie “Cover Girl”.”When you get to the top quick, you fall quick”. It's very true in a lot of cases, but there have been some famous exceptions. Madonna burst out on top, and more than a quarter century later she's still running the show. Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are still around and relevant (although Britney should've been a one-hit wonder, I'm baffled by her long-running success), Alicia Keys started out winning 5 Grammys for her first album, and she keeps racking up those awards with each new album she releases. Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake started out as teenagers in cheesy boy bands/girl groups that were only destined for 2-3 successful albums at best, yet they reached even greater heights as solo artists with no signs of stopping or slowing down yet showing. Conversely, there have also been artists whose success took a little longer to take off, and when they do reach that little peak of success, they fall off the map pretty quickly as well. It took Rihanna 2 albums before she became a household name, and now it seems she's already on her way to becoming a has-been, and at the ripe old of 21, no less. I think it's just a matter of luck, it depends what you're destined for. Maybe you were meant to be huge and be around for a long time, maybe you were meant to end up on an episode of VH1's “100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders”, it all depends. Nobody can ever predict with 100% accuracy who's here to stay and who isn't. Only history is the best judge of these things. Maybe Lady Gaga will be relevant for the next couple of decades, maybe she'll only be relevant for the next couple of years. Although she can control the outcome by changing up her silly act and actually make music that doesn't sound like a slightly edgier version of all the crap that's polluting our radios. She said she likes Kate Bush, why doesn't she try making music like her? She could still keep her over-the-top eccentricity, but at a much more respectable and classy level. Or her sheep fans will continue to swallow the crap she currently makes, and they may never grow tired of her act.
I think Lady Gaga will be around for quite awhile. She was already written off as a one-hit wonder, and now she's about to land her fifth consecutive #1 on Top 40 Mainstream.
I'm also glad to see that Kelly Clarkson is not on this list. That girl's got, aside from her incredible pipes, unbelievable staying power. Seven or eight years after winning Idol and she's still churning out hits.
Lady Gaga is so intelligent!
