BEST VERSE – Rihanna “Russian Roulette” (verse 1), Kelly Clarkson, “I Do Not Hook Up” (verse 2): No one was exactly surprised by the somber lyrics and grim performance that marked Rihanna’s return to recording in the wake of her tragic encounter with Chris Brown, but her delivery still somehow sent chills down our spine. Separately, Kelly Clarkson managed to make lemonade of the Katy Perry re-tread “I Do Not Hook Up,” applying her signature weary tenderness to the verse as she shares the wisdom of taking it slow.
