Roisin Murphy Goes Old School With ‘Momma’s Place’

January 5th, 2010 // 5 Comments

Chunky orchestra hits, house piano chords and Roisin Murphy were simply made to go together. Case in point: the Irish singer’s new retro-sounding dance jam “Momma’s Place”—which is actually a massive improvement over her last single “Orally Fixated.”

Murphy gave birth to her daughter Clodagh Henwood in December. Thankfully, unlike some singers, it doesn’t appear as if she’ll be taking four years off to raise the little bugger. “Momma’s Place” is officially released on January 18 in the U.K. Give it a whirl below.

First giant smash of 2010. Roisin's best ever. Every song on Overpowered is brilliant (“Overpowered,” “Dear Miami,” “Tell Everybody”… the woman is a genius) and this manages to outdo all of them. Positively massive. Well played!
