Goldfrapp Blast Off To The ’80s With New Single “Rocket”

Goldfrapp’s new song “Rocket” has finally surfaced, and like the Atari-at-the-discotheque art for the single sleeve, the tune itself is full of tubular ’80s radness.

Mute Records promised the duo’s new album Head First would be their “most powerful trip to date, a speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance.” They failed to mention it would also sound like the Pointer Sisters! Head below the jump to hear “Rocket.”

“Oh-oh-oh, I got a rocket, oh-oh-oh, you’re goin’ on it,” sings Alison Goldfrapp in the chorus to “Rocket.” Sexual innuendo and synthesizers—always the perfect pop combo!

The band have yet to post any new info on “Rocket” on their blog, though Alison wrote the following (in all lower case) in December: “i was told by a duo who make websites that doing band websites are completely pointless these days. apparently no one visits them regularly because you can get so much info from so many other places? what do you reckon?”

We reckon they need to take a spin on Alison’s rocket.
