We’ve still got, oh, 11 more months to go before Disney’s sci fi geekfest Tron Legacy hits theaters. So chalk Daft Punk’s soundtrack tune “Fragile” popping up on the Daft World fan site as either an unfortunate mishap or an early buzz-generating tactic—if it is indeed Daft Punk (there’s been no official confirmation yet).

The futuristic track has all the hallmark qualities of the French duo’s output—icy euphoria, a slight sense of dread and a steely, repetitious hook. Is it possible we’re finally hearing the first new music from Daft Punk since their 2005 album Human After All? Hop below and have a listen.

Oh, let’s just make things simple and choose to believe it’s them, shall we? It’s Friday. It’s been five years. We could all use some new Daft Punk in our lives.

Joseph Kosinski, director of the Tron sequel, recently spoke with MTV about working with the French dance duo, who composed the entire score: “These guys take Tron very seriously. Obviously, Tron was a huge influence on them… I’ve been working on it with them for over a year and a half. I don’t know of a movie where you’re working on the soundtrack months before you start filming. The level of integration between the music and the film is incredibly strong.”

Tron Legacy currently has a release date of December 17, 2010. A two-disc soundtrack will reportedly accompany the film.
