The New Vaudeville Band- Best Rock N Roll Recording -1966
The New Vaudeville Band, known for such hits as…as…hold on let us Google that and get back to you. These one-hit wonders (as in, I wonder what hits they could have had because we’ve never even heard of them), beat a bunch of nobodies who never surfaced again, like The Beach Boys, The Monkees, The Association, The Mamas and the Papas. Oh, and The Beatles. / View Original

My uncle was the drummer for New Vaudeville Band – Henri Harrison..the Grammy was won in 1967. I will have to ask him about this as I didn’t even know it won a Grammy!
I find that comment about them being a one-hit wonder extremely offensive, given that the NVB had a string of hits, several of which were later covered by many artistes (e.g. THERE’S A KIND OF HUSH). I met Henri by accident at London Management’s office and again, when I interviewed the band, at the Commodore in Nottingham. I also saw them at a bingo hall in Nottingam – quite a bizarre evening as Henri no doubt recalled to many people.
Not only were they one of the best bands that I have ever seen (I am 51 and have been attending live music performances since I was 4), they were also incredibly funny and knew exactly how to set up a sound system. I also loved Robert’s impression of Stanley Unwin – “Deep Joy” as the professor would have said.
