Almost Alice, the made-for-Hot-Topic compilation of music inspired by Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, is destined to be one of the hit soundtracks of 2010—at least until Eclipse is released. The first single from the soundtrack, 3OH!3′s “Follow Me Down,” has surfaced, and if you thought the lyric “Hush girl, shush your lips, do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips” was atrocious, hold on tight to your (mad) hats, cause the duo has managed to outdo themselves. Listen to the track after the jump.
3OH!3 feat. Neon Hitch – “Follow Me Down”
The track features up-and-coming British female singer Neon Hitch (who, apparently, is so new to the game she doesn’t even have her own Wikipedia page yet). Neon has a cutesy, baby-sounding voice, and she offsets Sean Foreman’s obnoxious vocals. At least Foreman & Co. come up with a half-decent beat for the hook—but it’s still not enough to forgive the truly awful lyrics.
“Gentlemen and ladies, animals and babies, we sing, we sing, nya nya nya nya” followed by “Follow me, follow me, fa-la-la-la-la-la” are literally the best rhymes the band could come up with.
Did it take them more than five seconds to write the lyrics to this song, or did they just ad-lib while already in the studio? Surely there must have been something from Alice in Wonderland—a character, a song, a theme—that they could’ve been inspired by instead of resorting to baby talk? Outside of the inane lyrics, the song really boils down to Neon Hitch’s cooing, which—if we’re forced to pick under penalty of beheading—is preferable to one more second of Foreman’s insufferable rhyming. “Baby, baby, here we are all crazy,” he sings. All crazy, indeed.
We’re holding out hope that Avril Lavigne came up with something less juvenile for her single “Alice (Underground),” which drops in the next few weeks. Then again, this is the girl whose last hit declared, “Hey, hey, you, you, I don’t like your girlfriend.” Will anyone on this soundtrack be able to elevate it from elementary school playground themes?

The song, streaming on MySpace now, is the first song released from Almost Alice , the companion to the Alice In Wonderland soundtrack.
i personally love this song- but everyone has their own opinions…
well alice in wonderland is a childrens movie in the first place…
but i liked it (: and it does retain to the movie because its about alice going into the world and looking around…
This is ridiculous. Take it from someone who knows: this song is AMAZING!!! Come on, “Sean Foreman's obnoxious voice”???? You can do better. Go write about Miley or something.
WOW you are effing rediculous! You obviously dont know what good music is and you should be fired for saying such crap. I dont care if everyone has their opinions, yours is dead wrong.
Obviously, you have either a) no taste in music or b) you're deaf. Follow me down is a great song. And honestly, obnoxious voice? No. The rhymes are good. And if you actually payed any attention to the lyrics, you'd see that they, in fact, do fit the movie. And no, their not crazy for writing those lyrics. Those lyrics are actually good. Well, I won't waste anymore time on deaf idiots. Go write about another band, who actually do have “obnoxious voices”.
I really don't believe they spent more than five minutes coming up with the lyrics for “follow me down”.At least it's got a good tune…I think.
i do agree! i find myself listening to this song more and more since I first wrote this post… but I still cannot get over the horrid lyrics. I try to just pretend they aren't saying anything (which is basically true)
Ok, I don't want to flame anyone too much here, but are we serious people?
Becky, I must say you are the WRONG person to be reviewing this song or any songs from Almost Alice for that matter. You think too logically!
“Outside of the inane lyrics;” I almost went into bloodlust after reading this, meant as an insult. You must be kidding us all because that is a COMPLIMENT!
Wonderland is THE place of INSANITY. The lyrics make complete sense if you actually look at it in an illogical point of view. “'Baby, baby, here we are all crazy,' he sings. All crazy, indeed,” this is no insult or flame as well. He says “here we all are crazy” because he is commenting that Wonderland is of complete nonsense. This is a really good song, you just have to be a little more open-minded.
Oh! And, also, yes Disney's 1951 Alice in Wonderland was aimed for children because, duh! Disney really only makes stuff for 18 and under, but Tim Burtin, and we're talking about the creator of Corpse Bride/Sweeny Tod/etc, had aimed this movie for all ages, not in the sense of children, but in the sense of viewers for absolutely all ages children, teenagers, young adults and elders alike.
And yes, I know that I will probably get flamed for flaming you. Just fyi: I couldn't care less. I said what had to be said and I'm glad I did. Visit Wonderland yourself, THEN write a review of this song. Until then, you should not be telling people that this is a horrible song just because YOU can't make heads or tails of it.
Thank you.
I absolutely agree with you 100 freaking percent. No one should tell people what or what not to listen too.
Hey! Not to flame back, but I'm actually a big fan of many of the artists on the Almost Alice soundtrack. “Don't Trust Me” is my jam. At least in that song they were able to pull together some clever lyrics, whereas in this song I was disappointed that it felt like they barely took five minutes to come up with anything halfway witty to say, instead relying on half-baked rhymes that mean nothing. None of it felt abstract or nonsensical – just lazy.
I'll be posting my review of the soundtrack next week, and rest assured, almost all the songs deal with aspects of Wonderland, and many of those find something significant to say with their lyrics.
And I'm not telling you to not listen to the song, by all means, support 3OH!3 – this is just my take on the song.
Well, I doubt it took less than five minutes, a lot of times writing song lyrics can be very difficult, no matter how simple the lyrics may be. And I know you aren't telling people to just NOT listen to the song(thought you might what to change your header or explain why you wrote that cause you do say not to listen to the lyrics in the header itself), but I still stand by what I did say: that, though you may not like it yourself, instead of saying “This song has a great beat and rhythm, but the lyrics are horrid,” you should explain that YOU don't like the lyrics not that they're horrible all together(and trust me, I've come across songs that really should be labeled as “horrid” ;P).
P.S. Becky! how dare you insinuate that you have heard the songs before it was released to us all! Like Eddy says: “Strike down the nonbeliever!” :P

“100 freaking percent”
This made me lol cusses and half-cusses are funny ^.^
P.S.S.S. I said:
“Visit Wonderland yourself” and yes, I do mean that I, myself, live in Wonderland. It's quite nice here(all except for the Jabberwok, he's just a schoolyard bully) ^.^
I actually think this song is EXTREMELY great for the movie. And when you say its not based off any particular thing it IS. Its obviously based off the White Rabbit. As in follow me down into the rabbit hole. I also can see the Mad Hatter in this. I think this is really rude. I mean you didnt even say ANYTHING posetive. Go complain about Miley or something.
Grow up,
get your head out of your ass.
My review of your review – Just as meaningful
I hope with a bit of my heart that your readers would take the time to make their own opinion and hopefully disagree with you rather than taking your opinion and running with it.
In short, go do something else. Your opinion isn't gold, don't slander others names with it. I don't see you making millions and Im more than 99% sure that 3OH!3 didnt make their money by posting their close minded opinions on the internet.
Trying to find lyrics and google brings me this garbage…
