This year’s Super Bowl may have featured aging rock icons during halftime, but genuinely relevant pop and hip-hop stars seemed to run the rest of the show. Beyoncé was snatched up by a claw for Vizio and T-Pain peddled Bud Light during the commercial breaks, and even Young Jeezy got into the game by penning his own “Who Dat?” ode to MVP Reggie Bush. But the musical highlight of Super Bowl XLIV had to be its opening: a smoldering Jay-Z performance of “Run This Town”, mashed up with the CBS NFL theme song and accompanied by classical/electronic group E.S. Posthumus. Check it out below.
Jay-Z, Rihanna and E.S. Posthumus – “Run This Town” (orchestral arrangement)
Sadly, Kanye West and his verse were left out once again. (Rihanna’s not featured in the vid either, but her vocals remain intact.) Is he voluntarily sitting out all these events, or is he simply seen as too unstable to invite? Actually, the even bigger question is: when are they releasing this awesome mix as a single?

my vote. make it into a new single asap! and i agree with Yvonne they've been great for a long time and deserve some recognition. :D
I agree, it needs to be made into a single asap, with or without Kanye's part. You can tell that a lot of time and energy went into that mix, everything meshed together very well and I always love when someone is good enough to put a classical spin on an already great song. The original “Run This Town” was/is no doubt a great song, however I always felt like it was missing something, and the violin just added so much to it.
you have to buy E.S. Posthumus' new album on iTunes called Makara. Amazing.
Or better yet, but it from CD Baby, where the artist makes much more for each sale!

I think the new album is flatter and not as imaginative as all the other work. This is something that usually happens when an artist(s) such as these guys are put into another realm than the one where they were writing the earlier stuff. The difference is very noticeable. Either they will put themselves back in their element and the old style will surface or . . . . This is what I had to do to my artists when I use to be a Creative Manager in the Rec Biz.
