Leona Lewis Treads Through Familiar Territory With “I Got You”

February 12th, 2010 // 13 Comments

Burning hearts! Tears in the street! A couple fighting in the desert! Yes, the new Leona Lewis video is upon us, and once again the X Factor chanteuse is trilling away on a happy/sad ballad. This time it’s “I Got You” (not be confused with her Avatar theme song, “I See You”), the second single to lifted off Leona’s latest album Echo.

And you may think you’re hearing an echo, since “I Got You” sounds almost exactly like Lewis’ previous singles “Bleeding Love” and “Happy.” But, hey—if it ain’t keeping the cash from filling up the bank account, don’t fix it, eh, Leona?

Incidentally, “I Got You” was penned by Max Martin, Arnthor Birgisson and Savan Kotecha, while Ryan Tedder was the main one behind “Bleeding Love” and “Happy.”

You could have fooled us, though.

Why do people like you write such stupid stupid articles like this! this is such a brilliant song and nothing like happy or bleeding love, and she does't trill away! you stupid idiot! God if you are from the UK shame on you for not supporting BRITISH talent!

I'm sorry Robbie but seriously how on earth can you equate this to the previous tracks? I'll be expecting you to criticise Take That next for all the tracks sounding the same …. or not as the case maybe, you little Gary Barlow shagger you ;)

  5. Robbie Daw

Blasphemy!! I will never type disparaging remarks about Gary, Howard, Jason or Mark! Well, unless they cover “I Got You,” then it's fair game.

Criticising somebody else’s work is so easy! You should probably listen to this and all other songs again and pay attention.
Is a love song and ultimately all the love songs are about people loving each other and fighting with each other but in the end what matters is to realise what is important and help each other through life.
I love the lyrics and the video. Well done Leona!

Except Leona wrote most of Happy herself, tedder just cowrote a smaller part of it
