Waaaaay back in 2007, Kate Nash bubbled up in the post-Lily Allen pop pool with her UK hit “Foundations” and debut album Made Of Bricks. Now she’s set to release her yet-to-be-titled sophomore LP in April. Ahead of that, Kate’s offered up a free song download, which you can hear below. (Warning: fans of the “Foundations” sound might be in for an unpleasant surprise.)

You’d kind of expect a bit more hook (not to mention some more lyrics), since former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler—who comes from the school of Johnny Marr, and who swizzed up part of Duffy’s debut LP Rockferry—produced the album. Going for a new sound is one thing, Kate. But going for a new sound that makes ramming a steak knife into your ear seem preferable is usually not advised. Luckily, “I Just Love You More” is not the lead single.
Nash, who was recently added to the Lilith Fair lineup, will release her sophomore album on April 19. The tracklist is below, per MTV UK.
