The Killers’ hiatus began a few concerts earlier than anticipated after the band announced they were canceling dates in Asia and Australia due to “the severity of the illness of a close family member.” It was revealed today that the family member in question was frontman Brandon Flowers’ mother, Jean, who passed away last Thursday after a battle with brain cancer. There are two Australian shows still listed for this weekend on the band’s website, though there’s no word yet if Flowers & Co. plan to play those dates. [Via Spinner]

This title is a little misleading, no? They haven't canceled the remainder of their tour…at least not yet. It seems to me like they saw the writing on the wall and were waiting for her to pass with the intention of performing after that happened. Some of The Killers crew traveled to Australia yesterday, after his mother passed on the 11th. I think they will be performing in Australia this weekend.
True, the headline was a bit misleading. We've changed it. And hopefully The Killers are able to pull off their shows in Aus this weekend, though hopefully their Aussie fans understand if they can't.
