Lady Antebellum Keep It Simple With “American Honey” Video

Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley tells AOL’s The Boot that although their hit single “Need You Now” crossed over to the mainstream pop world (and is currently holding steady in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100), their second single “American Honey,” most likely “won’t have that kind of flavor to do that.” Will the country tune’s music video help launch it to the top of the charts? Catch it below.

Lady Antebellum – “American Honey”

The video, which debuted on Oprah last Friday, is a simple, heartwarming look at a lazy summer day in the country. There’s not a heck of a lot of action besides an All-American couple out on a leisurely stroll, a too-cute kid blowin’ some bubbles and the band playing their yearning ballad from a porch… but if you’re a Lady Antebellum fan, do you really need anything more?

Well, maybe. The song, currently at #75 on the Hot 100, is steadily climbing up the charts, but at this rate, doesn’t seem destined to have the same success as its predecessor. However, the band has managed to build steam since the Grammys (where they won Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group for “I Run To You”), and their album “Need You Now” is holding at #3 at iTunes.

Still, maybe the trio should have added a ukelele on the track or some Transformers in their video like some other chart toppers?
