Rihanna sat down with MTV Korea and talked about what sound she wants to go for—or, rather, get back to—for her next album. “I love pop music,” Ms. Fenty, who turned 22 on Saturday, told the network. Phew! We dig the smooth reggae-inflected bounce of “Rude Boy,” but let’s face it—”Hard” and “Russian Roulette” were kind of downers.

“Rated R, I love the sound of it, in terms of the bass,” Rihanna says in the clip above. “I really like the bottom, the grime of it. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, up-tempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that’s where we’ll probably go next.”
