Drake is finally dropping his album Thank Me Later this May, and he’s made sure that there’s something for everybody. “I got a lot of great songs on my album,” he said to Toronto radio station 93.5 The Flow before debuting his first single “Over.” “I got songs for women who wanna feel special. I got songs for dudes—if you ever thought my music was too soft, this is one you will enjoy.” We have to hand it to Drizzy, not every rapper can pull off name dropping Michael Jackson, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Roger Ebert in one song. Listen to “Over” below.
Drake - Over
In the song, which sounds like he sampled the film score to a 70s caper film, Drake displays his adept rap flows while showcasing a deep growl in his voice not unlike his “Forever” collaborator Lil Wayne. (Let’s just hope he doesn’t have the same legal and dental problems as Weezy.)
But unfortunately, “Over” doesn’t impress us much—it’s little too downbeat for what should have been a powerhouse “I’m here, world!” hit first single. We’re not sure why the beat sounds so dreary when Drake’s rapping that he’s got “two thumbs up” like “Ebert and Roeper,” and “I swear this life is like the sweetest thing I’ve ever known/’bout to go Thriller, Mike Jackson on these bitches/all I need is a f***ing red jacket with some zippers.”
Still, we think Sprite spokesman could pull off that look better than Chris Brown did.

Why does he need to say I'm here world, we know that. I think a lot of ppl are just upset because he didn't drop a club banger per-say, or a tiny bop hip pop song. It's a great song, the beat is sick, and he speaks the truth on it.
By the way, tell us what your favorite rap/hip hop song is of all time, and I believe that will tell us about your skills on judging hip hop music.
I couldn't possibly narrow it down to one. And if I picked the “wrong” song or artist that you didn't agree with, would that mean I'm not qualified to share an opinion on a song?
What I'm saying is that, the song is hip hop, it may not be the pop song that everyone was looking for or may not be a “Best I Ever Had” type of song, I just have a feeling that that's the type of song that some ppl was hoping he would drop. See there are certain types of people out there, there are true hip hop fans, and then there are people that just like the popular rap song that they heard at the club last night, or on the radio that made them dance or sing along. Check his other songs, and not just the ones that you may have heard on the radio, I'm mean the tracks that didn't make it main stream, things song goes back to his roots, it's exactly what he says, he's doing him, simple as that.
…. Oh, and if there was truly a song that you considered to be your favorite, it wouldn't be that hard to narrow it down. Even one or two songs, it's called favorite for a reason.
“And if I picked the “wrong” song or artist that you didn't agree with, would that mean I'm not qualified to share an opinion on a song?”
No it wouldn't mean that your not qualified, it would just give and insight into what type of fan you are of hip hop, you know whether or not you truly like hip hop or whether you're just one of those ppl that I mentioned before, you know the person switching through radio st. and happen to come across the new popular rap song that's good to dance to or sing along to.
