X Factor dorks Jedward (aka 18-year-old twins John and Edward Grimes) have been dropped by Sony after a lone UK single—their Vanilla Ice-featuring “Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)” mashup. The car-crash jam initially debuted at #2 on the British chart, but fell like a two-ton vat of Pomade out of the Top 10 the following week. “It might seem ruthless, but imagine the misery and wasted time and money that could have been spared if this practice were applied outside of X Factor acts,” notes the Guardian. “Right now we’re all watching MGMT’s label beginning to flog a second album which the band themselves have breezily claimed contains ‘no singles’.”

Singles? What about the misery of that album’s cover art?
