We kind of slept through the premiere of Florence And The Machine’s newest version of the video for “Dog Days Are Over” last month. (Catch the original 2008 vid here.) Chalk it up to us still being dazzled by the Brit Award winner‘s previous clip for “Hurricane Drunk.” But we have the trailer for Julia Roberts’ upcoming flick Eat Pray Love to thank for reminding us that, yes, women on the verge of a soul-searching journey and Florence And The Machine tend to pretty much go hand in hand. Watch “Dog Days Are over” after the jump!
That’s some serious warpaint, and hopefully Florence will forgive us if we mention that her video is conjuring up hazy memories of the one for 2 Unlimited’s “Tribal Dance”…
…because, after all, early ’90s techno-pop and Florence And The Machine tend to pretty much go hand in hand.

Dear Robbie Daw,
if you still think that Florence and 2 Unlimited’s “Tribal Dance” have anything vaguely in common have your ears, eyes, nose and brain tested. Florence’s video, even with the sound off, is a piece of art compared with the latter trash.
Regards,
Evita
Florence + the Machines totally wrecked the Video Music Awards. Dog Days Are Over is quite a cheerful song and it sounds quite a bit better than the crap played on the radio today.
