‘Glee: The Music, Volume 3 – Showstoppers’ Features Lady Gaga, KISS, Aerosmith And More

Glee3Yet another volume of music from your favorite guilty pleasure musical TV show will soon be released—no, not Cop Rock. Glee: The Music, Volume 3 – Showstoppers will drop in the next few weeks, and if you’re counting, this makes four albums in one season of television. By the time this show ends (oh my  god, let’s not even think about the possibility of a Glee-less world), we’re going to need an entire iPod just to store our Glee music. The Vol. 3 track listing (listed below) should make pretty much every music fan as happy as the cast of Glee usually looks—not to mention the news that there may be a sequel to the Madonna episode!

Well, there certainly is something for everybody here—Broadway numbers, rock songs, disco hits, modern pop and 80s classics. Lea Michele will duet with her doppleganger Idina Menzel on “Poker Face,” and word is Chris Colfer will sing “Rose’s Turn” from Gypsy, a song typically sung by an older woman—much like Kurt belting “Defying Gravity,” the gender switch should be an interesting change of pace from hearing Lea Michele sing practically every song.

This track listing, however, does not bode well on the Lady Gaga episode we were looking forward to, since it looks like the Gleeks may only be performing two of Gaga’s hits as opposed to the 10 Madonna songs from this past Tuesday’s show.

Apparently 10 Madonna songs aren’t enough for some people. According to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello, Ryan Murphy and Glee’s producers are in talks with the Queen of Pop’s camp to have another Madonna-centric ep early next season with six more songs. Fans may even be able to vote on which of M’s songs they want the New Directions crew to tackle.

Which Madonna songs are you sad didn’t make the cut in this week’s episode? Personally, we’d love to hear “Hung Up,” “This Used To Be My Playground,” and “Beautiful Stranger” show choir’d within an inch of their lives. Then again, we’d love it even more if they either focused on a new pop star to salivate over (#britneyspearsglee is already a trending topic) or actually focused on creating a story without major plot holes or super-obvious statements of exposition.
