Last week soon-to-be-hitched pop babe Katy Perry tweeted that she was at the photo shoot for the cover of her upcoming single “California Gurls,” and noted that “there couldn’t be more color…” And while we’re not sure if the artwork above is official, it sure is vivid. So now the Max Martin/Dr. Luke-produced jam itself—which features rap’s slick lumberjack Snoop Dogg—has now surfaced. Listen after the jump!

“Greetings, loved ones—let’s take a journey,” Snoop says in the intro to “California Gurls.”

Perry then begins to toast the “golden coast” buy singing about sun, Daisy Dukes and bikinis. She even throws a nod to a classic hit from the Doggfather: “Sipping gin and juice, laying underneath the palm trees.”

What about California?” Katy recently said to Rolling Stone. “It’s been a minute since we had a California song and especially from a girl’s perspective. We took the references of Prince, which is always a great reference, and some of the ’90s, almost house music references.”

Some listeners are actually hearing a “TiK ToK” vibe in “California Gurls,” though what do you expect—Dr. Luke cooked up the beats for that one, as well.

At any rate, Katy, Max Martin and Dr. Luke struck gold with “I Kissed A Girl” two summers ago. What do you think—is “California Gurls” going to be another #1 hit?
