Thank Me Later opening track “Fireworks” surfaced today, and the introspective song finds Drake contemplating his fame while Alicia Keys, repaying the favor of Drizzy adding his vocals to her tune “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)”, croons on the hook. Did Alicia add the same sort of magic she did with Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind”? Listen below to be the judge:

Drake feat. Alicia Keys – “Fireworks”

“I want to witness love, I never seen it close, I guess I gotta find it first, that’s why I’m really going off like fireworks,” raps a downbeat, introspective Drake on the mellow track, which is bookended by the sound of actual fireworks. We like it—in fact, this might be the most impressed we’ve been with what we’ve heard off of Thank Me Later so far. Many of you are head over heels for Drizzy and all his musical offerings, but we’ve been (sadly) unimpressed. But with this track, we may be starting to turn around.

How much can we bet this song will get some major play this 4th of July, either on the stereo at your neighborhood barbecue or during a pivotal scene on a CW drama as two young, hot people either realize their love for one another or have an emotioal break-up? We’ll put a zillion dollars on it.
