Kanye West Has Done A ‘Good Ass Job’ With New Single “Power”

The first track from Kanye West’s Good Ass Job has surfaced, the rocking chant-a-long song “Power”, featuring Dwele. And now we know what made Kid Cudi dance on a table—gone is the Auto-Tune! Gone is the heartbreak! We’ve got our egomaniacal, proud Kanye back! (Not such a great personality trait in real life, but it always works fabulously in his music.) Jump below to listen!

The tune sounds like Kanye took the kiddie chorus from Gorillaz’ “Dirty Harry” and looped it over a rock drum beat. (The song also samples King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man”.) It’s definitely a song we can already imagine West fans singing back to the man during a live show, and it certainly indicates a return to a (pardon the convenient phrasing) more powerful Yeezy we haven’t seen in some time, in between his forlorn 808s and Heartbreak album and the humble Taylor Swift Apology Tour of 09.

He actually vaguely references that whole PR debacle from the VMAs, specifically with all the jokes made at his expense: “F*** SNL and the whole cast / Tell ‘em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass / More specifically, they can kiss my asshole / I’m an asshole?”

Yikes. Is he referring to this skit? Or maybe this one? Neither is all that insulting, to be honest. We’re more surprised he didn’t lash out at South Park—or maybe he still didn’t get the fishsticks joke?

But our favorite lyric of all? “I don’t need yo’ p****y, bitch, I’m on my own d**k.” That’s the ego-driven, tongue-in-cheek Kanye we love to jam along to.

Are you guys feeling this track as much as us? Or do you think Kanye could’ve done a better job?
