Lily Allen To Write ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ Musical

When Lily Allen recently mentioned she was “trying to do a musical at the moment,” we assumed she would be performing. Turns out, the Brit pop star will be writing the score for the upcoming Bridget Jones’ Diary musical set to premiere in London in 2011. Although we don’t think of Allen’s tunes as very theatrical, this pairing is somewhat perfect, as Lily herself is a young British woman who has been known to pen brutally honest diary entries about body issues. (Honestly, though, the lyrics to “22”, including the line “all she wants is a boyfriend, she gets one night stands, she’s thinking how did I get here, I’m doing all that I can,” could have been ripped straight out of Bridget’s journal.)
