Big Boi Flips Jive The Bird As His Track With Andre 3000 Mysteriously Surfaces

The track list for Big Boi’s July release Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty is out, and it suffers from a curious omission: “Lookin’ For Ya”, a collaboration with his OutKast partner Andre 3000. Why is the track MIA? Blame record-label politics. Luckily, it won’t be too difficult for you to listen to Big Boi and Andre’s collab. (Hint: it’s behind the jump!)

Big Boi was originally supposed to release Sir Lucious on Jive Records, the same label OutKast is signed to. Alas, the album never came out from Jive, and Boi was released from his contract. He then went over to Def Jam to drop his album, without the Andre track, since OutKast is still technically on the Jive artist roster — and Jive wasn’t too keen on another label releasing what could, for all intents and purposes, be considered an OutKast song, since both members are on the track.

Also missing from Sir Lucious: a track called “Royal Flush” featuring Dr. Dre, another Jive artist. Boi tells GQ that this whole unfair conundrum is “plain stupidity. It’s stupid business and it’s stupid politics.” But, he’s got a plan!

So because OutKast as a group is signed to Jive, they’re able to legally block the two of you from working together? Au contraire! They cannot block it. Au contraire. Either they’re going to do it the right way, or they’re going to do it my way. How you wanna do it? The fans thirst will be quenched. You know, I’m no stranger to that internet, baby. So you already know what time it is. The thirst of the fans will be quenched.

You’re saying we will be hearing “Lookin For Ya” [with André] even though it’s not on the album? I guarantee it.

And here it is!

Andre 3000 & Sleepy Brown – Lookin’ For Ya” dl=”0″] We think there’s maybe a little too much Sleepy Brown and not enough Big Boi/Andre 3000, but it’s a solid, futuristic track. And hey, you didn’t have to pay .99 cents on iTunes to enjoy it! And Jive will probably make absolutely no money on his track since it’s been given away for free. Point, Big Boi.

Plus, Andre will be included on Boi’s album in one way if not another—he produced the track “You Ain’t No DJ.” So there’s that!
