Dr. Dre And Jay-Z Are “Under Pressure”

We’re kind of upset that Dr. Dre and Jay-Z’s buzzy collaboration “Under Pressure”, from Dre’s loooong-in-the-works Detox album, isn’t an updated version of Freddie Mercury and David Bowie’s famous duet. But after hearing the studio recording of the track that leaked last week… we’re kind of still upset it’s not. Listen to it below.

[wpaudio url=”//idolator.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Dr.-Dre-feat.-Jay-Z-Under-Pressure-No-Tags.mp3″ text=”Dr. Dre feat. Jay-Z – Under Pressure” dl=”0″] “I smoke, I drink / I’m supposed to stop, but I can’t,” says Dre on a soulless drum beat and over futuristic bleeps and bloops. “Don’t ask why / I get high / I’m just livin’ my mother fucking life.”

Jay provides his own verse about indulging in sinful activities: “I’m having trouble trying to clean up, I’m like FEMA,” raps Jay. “I’m in this party, I’m up to no good / And I should be ducking these clubs, Tiger Woods.” What a timely reference! If he really wanted to be on top of pop culture, the song should’ve included a vuvuzela.

Dr. Dre made a statement last week that the tagged track leaked on the web was an incomplete version, and although the tags are gone, this still sounds like an unfinished recording, no? It’s on the short side and barely even has a hook. Let’s hope there’s a better version of this track still left to be unleashed, because we’re definitely not feeling this at all.
