Last year, the death of Michael Jackson quite literally broke the Internet. Now on the one year anniversary of The King Of Pop’s untimely passing, we were shocked to find that MJ isn’t even a current lead trending topic on Twitter. Even more surprising were the pop stars, many of whom were collaborators or admirers of Jackson, who didn’t even bother to tweet to honor his memory today. Jump below to see the what these 10 pop stars (including a VERY close sibling!) were busy tweeting about today instead of Michael Jackson.
10. Pete Wentz, an MJ fan who’s band Fall Out Boy covered “Beat It” tweeted today:

9. Cyndi Lauper, who worked with Michael Jackson on “We Are The World”, while she hasn’t tweeted today she did tweet as recently as yesterday.

#8. Justin Timberlake, back in 2001 N*SYNC was joined on stage by the King Of Pop for their hit “Pop” at the MTV VMAs, but no MJ tweet (or tweets at all) today.
#7. Lady Gaga mentioned MJ in her recent Rolling Stone article, but forgot to mention him today on Twitter.

#6. Rihanna paid homage to MJ by sampling “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” for her hit “Please Don’t Stop The Music”, but forgot to pay her respects to him via Twitter today.

#5. Ryan Seacrest’s career revolves around music and music news. How is it possible that he forgot to give Michael a shout out on Twitter?
#4. Britney Spears. Last year, when asked about his death Britney gave the following statement, ”I was so excited to see his show in London. We were going to be on tour in Europe at the same time and I was going to fly in to see him. He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life and I’m devastated he’s gone!”. She even performed on stage with Michael back in 2001 at Madison Square Garden, but there was no MJ anniversary tweet today. Though, to be fair, Brit hasn’t tweeted since her Father’s Day message to her dad on Sunday.

#3. Quincy Jones produced Michael’s Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, and “We Are The World” (which MJ was a major part of), and he couldn’t produce one tweet today in Michael’s honor. He’s tweeted as recently as May.
#2. Janet Jackson. Michael’s sister with whom he created one of the most memorable (and expensive) music videos to “Scream” with, did not tweet about her own brother’s death today. We’re sure she’s honoring his memory in her own way, but it is still quite surprising.
And the #1 pop star we’re most shocked to see didn’t tweet about Michael Jackson on the one year anniversary of his death is: Chris Brown. Last year, Chris told E! that “Michael Jackson is the reason why I do music and why I am an entertainer.”
. Here’s what Chris Brown tweeted today:

We’ll just say on behalf of all these pop stars then, MJ we miss you.

Rihanna’s account is verified but she is not the one tweeting… carry on.
I guess what really matters is if those “superstars” shared their feeling for MJ while he was still alive which i’m sure many of them did, at least i kno Chris Brown did, so a shout out for the world to see is not all that important in the scheme of things. Too many ppl want to jump on the band now to claim their love for Micheal now that he has passed on and quite frankly it’s fake and means absolutely to him now. MJ knew how Chris Brown felt about him while he was still with us, and that’s all that matters!!!
Who said they HAD to tweet about him? I agree with Kimberly, it’s just a bandwagon now.I never liked him and never will. I don’t want to say I loved someone and I was born in a different generation, never really listened to his music, and wasn’t a fan. Once he died everyone acted like he was God and everyone had listened to all of his music before.
I dont’ think it’s so much that people “forgot”, it more like “who gives a shiite”. It seems like it was just a few months ago that all the hype was nauseating and it’s starting all over again.
Sadly, we’ll have to go through this garbage for the next (insert number of decades here) every single anniversary of his death.
I wonder how much hype would be given had he been, rightly, convicted of pedophilia? Also, let’s face it – Conrad Murray is a scapgoat, period. What’s not being spoken about is the fact that Jackson himself took the meds that killed him, as he “never took no for an answer” according to the sycophant yes men who surround Jackson – he was impossible to talk him out of something once he had his mind set on it.
While I rarely, if ever, speak ill of the dead, there are far more deserving people who should have gotten this level of rememberance, yet because they didn’t act – and look – like freaks, well, they’re sadly forgotten each anniversary of their passing and to me that’s the most distrubing thing of all.
Jackson is gone. How about we let him actually rest in peace and move on.
I’m just sayin’…
Maybe those artists were busy that day with their music projects, promoting new albums and doing concerts . I’m sure they wanted to remember Michael in some way and remember June 25th in their daily tweets, but life does go on. Michael’s death was a big story for months last year at this time, but I believe most of us don’t want to overdo it with the anniversary tributes. There have been dozens of tributes to Michael on the awards shows, but we all want to move on, yet still keep his music alive by playing it in our spare times.

Please do your research before you label and accuse someone. You have no evidence or basis on which you say that MJ should have been convicted. He was acquitted on all counts. You can go over all the court transcripts and see for yourself that it was just an extortion attempt. However i guess you probably wont bother with that since you seem to have already judged him. I suggest you atleast check up on the article “One of the most shameful episodes in journalistic history” by Charles Thomson (google it). 5 minutes of your time is needed and you will see the truth for yourself. Even if you dont care enough to do all that , atleast dont post another comment like this before verifying your facts!! Peace, L.O.V.E
