Maybe we just have 4 Non Blondes on the brain after Crystal Bowersox gave a stand-up performance of “What’s Up” last week on the Tonight Show, but Lady Gaga’s new song “You And I” seems to bear more than a little resemblance to the San Francisco band’s 1993 hit. It also sounds like old-school Elton John (not to mention Gaga’s own Fame Monster tune “Speechless”), so it makes sense that Rolling Stone‘s current cover girl chose to debut the rock ballad at Sir Elt’s 12th Annual White Tie and Tiara benefit ball last week. “This is a brand new record that no one’s ever heard before,” said Gaga before she performed “You And I.” “It’s a bit of a rock and roll tune which means it most likely will never get used as one of my singles.”
Now, we’re not looking for yet another person to start a beef with Lady Gaga, but it would be interesting to hear Linda Perry sound off about the melody of those verses. There’s no word yet on whether “You And I” will appear on Lady Gaga’s third album, which is due out in 2011.

I love Gaga’s new song …. but after a few minutes, I get the 4 Non-blondes song in my head. The melody’s are definitely similar.
I just heard that song for the first time (you & I) and I was sitting there thinking I know this. The 4 non blondes song whats going on was also on my mind when listening to gaga. A quick google search & it seems I’m not alone here. I find it hard to respect her as an artist, too many similarities in her songs. Madonna, Ace Of base and whoever else she is ripping off. Not original in any way.
Nope, nope. You’ve all got it wrong. The whole reason I got led to this page is because I’m trying to figure out what MODERN song this Gaga tune sounds like. The 4 Non-Blondes song is a ripoff of ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’. Don’t give those poseurs credit for what they stole from Bobby McFerrin. Meanwhile, there’s a much newer song whose verses sound strangely like the Gaga tune. I’ll keep lookin’…
UPDATE – It’s ‘Breathe’ by Anna Nalick. They’re even in the same key.
you know the part where she sang ” you and i !!!” arround 2:47 of the song and so on?.. reconize it sound like a rock song from some where.. but forogt where its from… does anyone have any idea?
