Billboard’s Mashup Mondays is somewhat of a gamble every week—some weeks we get inspired performances like Janelle Monae singing “Smile”, and other weeks we get Iyaz turning Green Day into bad karaoke. Those are the risks when you let artists cover any song they want. This week, Billboard snagged teen phenom and recent inductee of the Glee family Charice for a cover of Shania Twain’s hit “You’re Still The One.” Can the 18-year old Filipina covincingly go country? Charice does an impressive job with this cover—her voice is totally in control, and she takes her time performing the story of the song as opposed to focusing on any vocal theatrics. We actually prefer her sound acoustically than on her produced dance-pop tracks. Color us excited for Charice on Glee! Maybe she can duet with Uncle Jesse?
yea, definitely! charice is amazing and it’s not that much of a surprise to see she can cover country– girl can do anything! have you seen her do rap in her cover of justin bieber’s Baby? she killed the entire song, including ludacris’ rap. i tell you, amazing!

Great job from Charice! Whenever Charice does covers, you always get the feeling she sings the song better than the original, really! However, in my own opinion, this one from Shania Twain, is an exception. I find Shania’s version still the better one….Still, Charice is the next world pop sensation!!!

i can’t stop admiring this very talented girl with an angelic voice.. she can do covers even better than the original artists, she even sings better live. nobody else can outdo charice, no one has yet been born. i pray for your success cha, you can sing anything! You should see her clean and beautiful skin in person…her voice represents her tender age but with strong and vibrant interpretations of every song she sings..she did a good job on this rendition!!
Charice’s original songs are rubbish, and come off as generic clones of songs by Jojo/ Jordin Sparks. She can only be known for covering the songs already popularized by other people
