The holiday may now be over, but singing food whiz Kelis is still celebrating “4th Of July (Fireworks).” This morning, to promote the release of Flesh Tone here in the U.S., she hit up the Today Show to perform her single live while decked out in a colorful rainbow-splashed shirt and yellow pants. And speaking of the domestic edition of her album, the iTunes version features the extra track “Carefree American,” which you can hear after the jump!

“I’d been feeling sort of animalistic in my approach to things lately,” Kelis told us about her album’s title. “It’s kind of like body and soul, flesh and bone, it’s all blood and heart. When everything is stripped away, you see what you’re made of. It’s just kind of where I was at and how I was feeling with this record.”

Flesh Tone was released today.
