Jason Derulo’s short film/music video for “What If” falls in line with the movie trailer-type preview we saw last week for it. In the Ethan Lader-directed clip, Jason is about to propose to his girlfriend, but he’s forced to erase her from his life when it turns out the only way to save her from being hit by a car is to go back in time and avoid meeting her. Heavy. Watch the video for Derulo’s fourth single below.

There is not too much more to the full video that we weren’t already given a tease of in the preview last week. Still, this tearjerker clip should go far to help the single become Derulo’s fourth to crack the Top 10.

And, between his guilt-ridden cheating jam “Whatcha Say,” desperate come-on hit “In My Head” and now “What If,” doesn’t Jason sort of strike you as one of the more tortured gents in pop?
