Jennifer Lopez Gets Her Louboutins Thrown Off The ‘American Idol’ Judges Panel

Well, it’s back to the drawing board for American Idol. According to People, potential judge Jennifer Lopez is now out of the running due to her living up to her diva persona. “Her demands got out of hand,” says a source. “Fox had just had enough.” So who could be her replacement? How about another uber-famous, larger-than-life figure in the pop music scene—Mariah Carey?

“You know what? She talks about it. She says, ‘I would love to do that,'” Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great.”

“I don’t know if she has enough time, though,” he added. “But if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do Idol. Let’s start the campaign!”

Yes, let’s!

First of all, American Idol loves the the lady already—the singer has previously performed on the show multiple times, and acted as mentor to the contestants back in 2008 when her songbook was featured during Mariah Carey theme week. (Remember David Cook’s gorgeous interpretation of her ballad “Always Be My Baby”? We still do!)

We do agree with Cannon that Carey still seems extremely focused on her music career—as well as her blossoming acting career, at least when she isn’t backing out of film projects—plus, we have a feeling Carey’s demands would be just as incredulous as Lopez’s. (Do you think The Mariah Carey is going to agree to have anything but a Hello Kitty-designed dressing room? We think not!)

But if she could put her own demanding reputation aside, we think she’d more than adequately fill the loopy-but-beloved personality that’s been missing from the judge’s table since Paula Abdul left. Just think back to all of her amazing acceptance speeches from earlier this year—wouldn’t you love to watch that twice a week? We know we would. But what about you?
