Last month Jay Sean boasted that his Nicki Minaj collaboration “2012 (It Ain’t The End)” is going to be stuck in everybody’s head for the rest of the summer. And while the song isn’t exactly blowing up iTunes (it’s currently floundering at #55 on the digital store’s chart), the Erik White-directed music video has now arrived.
We hate to burst Jay’s bubble, but “2012″ isn’t the most memorable tune, is it? It sounds like he tried to follow in Enrique Iglesias’ footsteps and bang out a party jam (a la “I Like It”) with lyrics that took about 10 minutes to write.
And Nicki, girl, we love you, but you don’t have to sign on for every collaboration that’s offered to you.
Oh well — maybe Sean will fare better with his other single he plans releasing soon, “Break Your Back”? Assuming, of course, that the world hasn’t ended by then.

I’m not a fan of this at all, Im not fond of Jay Sean and that tired sound of his anyways but he brung Ms Minaj down with him. This was not her best collab even she couldn’t save the tacky blandness of this song/
jay sean has totally lost his originality.
Agreed. It’s all very watered down and boring.
Song has grown on me, and Nicki ruins it… the version without her is better
Nicki is the only reason worth listening.
I think CM head Birdman wanted to piggyback on Minaj’s success so far with radio hits and digital sustainers “Dutty Love” and “Bottoms Up” by having her on this, because originally she was just to be on the remix. Turns out its not working so well….
The song is boring, formulaic, and just as the others above have said. I, however, think that Nicki made at least one minute of the song listen-able. I mean, come on, you have to admit she threw it down pretty hard there.
Nicki’s verse is useless and out of place. The version without her is better IMO. And yeah, this song is formulaic and unoriginal. I like his pre-Cash Money music much more.
Maybe for you, but not for me. LIke I said below, her verse is useless and out of place.
I like it,its kinda cool! its just the beginning thats a bit dodgy, but its something you can really rock to!! I heard he is collaborating songs with pitbull, drake and lil wayne, thats definetly gonna rock! besides,he said this song is nothing like what he still has up his sleeve..
Go jay!
