Lee DeWyze To Drop Debut Album This November

August 19th, 2010 // 10 Comments

We’ll finally get a clue as to whether Lee DeWyze’s post-Idol career will mirror that of Carrie Underwood or Taylor Hicks when his debut album drops on November 16. “It’s gonna be like a whole rock/pop sort of deal… It’s gonna be very chill rock, a little harder stuff,” Lee told Neon Limelight as to what we can expect in regards to his music. Although we’re fairly certain his album will follow precedent of every American Idol winner to come before him and debut somewhere in the Top 10, we’ll have to see how well DeWyze’s “chill rock” can stand up against Kanye West, who also releases his as-yet-untitled album that day. Good luck, Lee.

Kris Allen is the LOWEST selling Idol by a mile – only pushng 300K copies of his debut album. Why wasn’t the comparison Carrie Underwood or Kris Allen?

Taylor Hicks debuted at #2 on Billboard with his debut album . I would bet Lee would be thrilled with that, but I doubt it happens. We seem to have selective memory when it comes to Taylor. Debut album sold well, and only idol to have two very successful solo tours immediately following idol.
And even though the powers that be turned on him he has done consistently well on his own. I doubt anyone else could have done as well under the circumstances.

Since Taylor Hicks made 3.5 million last year I’d say Lee would be doing pretty well to match that.

Lee can only hope that he does as well as Taylor Hicks. Do I Make You Proud went Gold in less than 2 weeks. Taylor Hicks the album went Platinum. Not too shabby. And, by the way, Kris Allen is the lowest selling Idol winner.

Why do you writers print this stuff that makes Taylor Hicks sound like the worst! It’s just not true! I agree with all the positive comments above about Taylor’s CD, and it would have been better if the record company would have released a single before the album (as they have always done in the past for the winner) instead of 2 months after it was released!! BTW, Taylor also had a starring role on Broadway, and then led a National Broadway Tour for 18 months. He is a fantastic LIVE Entertainer, which I cannot say is true about Lee. You can compare Lee to Kris Allen, and you will be about right. The Idol Tour has not had great attendence numbers, but Season Five, the year Taylor Hicks Won, the Idols LIVE tour had the highest % of sold out concerts in larger stadiums. Please print what is true! This is just bad journalism

    Lee Dewyze WHO???????? He sucks!

The season 5 Idol concert tour had the highest sales because of Chris Daughtry, who was the real star of that season. And no reason to slam Kris Allen-the economy is far worse than it was in season 5 and people are buying less CD’s. Adam Lambert sold less than Taylor and he is arguably a much bigger star and draw.

I think Lee will do great! The last three Idol winners are so talented and hot too! Taylor appealed mostly to older people.

Taylor Hicks is the epitome of an idol failure because his psycho fans and their antics led some to believe that he actually had alot of fans. Most of all, Taylor himself believed it and he acted like a pompous fool on the show. He’ll forever be the golden standard of loser by Idol standards and he has his fans to thank for that.

yomama you are wrong. T. Hicks is the most down to earth I have ever met. And he has not sold the least by any stretch of the imagination. I was at a couple idol tour shows and Taylor received the most attention by far . He just didn’t kiss enough butt at Arista. And I’m glad he didn’t. Hes doing just fine and owns his own life and property.
Tay will be the last idol standing that owns his own soul.
