In an exclusive behind-the-scenes sneak peek at his upcoming video for “Just A Dream,” Nelly told Carbonated.tv that the reason his single is connecting with people is because of the “relatable” subject matter—love. “I think that the way the whole song plays out, with the beat and the lyrics, I think it comes together in the sense of it’s almost a timeless song,” said the St. Lunatics rapper. Go behind the scenes of “Just A Dream” below.

The song precedes Nelly’s upcoming fifth album 5.0, named, aptly enough, after the artist’s Ford Mustang. And so far Nelly is cruising in the right direction—last week “Just A Dream” debuted at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Still, the music biz has changed a lot in the decade since his multi-platinum debut LP Country Grammar dropped. “Kids want their music fast, and they want it now,” he told Carbonated.tv. “When I came out, there was a song or two that was the song of the summer… Now it’s the song of the week!” (Tell us about it, Nelly!)

We’ll definitely be keeping our ears open for that Dr. Luke-produced T-Pain/Akon collaboration from the album. (Says Nelly on Luke, “He’s got like 10 straight #1s—that Katy Perry chick won’t stop!” Indeed.)

5.0 is due out November 16.
