A crowd of 60,000 showed up yesterday to hear Pope Benedict XVI’s open-air mass in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park—and they were also treated to three songs performed by Susan Boyle, who had a choir of 800 singers backing her up. SuBo belted out her Britain’s Got Talent audition song “I Dreamed A Dream,” as well as the hymns “How Great Thou Art” (which appears on her multi-platinum debut album) and “Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace.” But finding out she’d meet the Holy Father proved to be a bit too much for her.

“It’s hard to describe it. It’s hard to put into words, really. But it will be a very humbling experience, a very indescribable experience,” Boyle said before blessing the Pope with her pipes.

And upon being informed she’d be meeting the Pontiff, Susan slumped over and had to sit down and have a cup of water.

Kind of makes all that drama last week over performing Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” on America’s Got Talent seem like small potatoes, eh, SuBo?
