Check Out A Preview For Will.i.am & Nicki Minaj’s Anime-Inspired “Check It Out”

What can we expect in will.i.am and Nicki Minaj’s video for their Buggles-sampling “Check It Out” vid? According to this behind-the-scenes preview, there will be loads of green screen trickery, some skintight suits, and one insane piece of headgear resting atop Nicki’s blonde do. (Seriously, what is that?!) One thing we hope is lacking in the song’s video: blackface. Watch Will & Nick get chummy while discussing their latest collab by hopping the jump.

“You can expect some flyness when it comes to the outfits,” says will.i.am of the clip, which drew its inspiration from Japanese Anime. Whew! I was so worried there wouldn’t be flyness!

Minaj has nothing but respect for the Black Eyed Pea, who also produced the track. “Will is the only producer who produced me… he made the beat on the spot,” says Nicki. “I’m sitting there, and it was like, five minutes later he finished the beat!”

The feeling is mutual, apprently: listen to Will waxing poetic on working with Minaj: “She inspires the next level.”
