Watch Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Country Strong” Music Video

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscar-baiting role of 2010 is playing the rehabbed country star Kelly Canter in Country Strong. Like most music videos tied-in with a Hollywood movie, the title track’s video is pretty much a montage of various clips from the film. However, we do get a few shots of Gwyneth as Gwyneth, not her character, singing and playing guitar. Do you buy Chris Martin’s wife as a country superstar? Sony Pictures reaaaaally hopes you do. We can admit that Gwyneth (who really looks like our Popping Up artist Lissie, no?) has a decent voice, but it seems unnatural seeing Gwyneth try and attempt to morph into a real-life professional country star. (Think Jessica Simpson’s half-baked attempt a few years ago.) It’s almost like it’s country music theme night on American Idol and we’re forced to watch somebody take on a persona they’re typically not comfortable with. We also aren’t sure how much we’d be paying attention to this song if an Oscar-winning actress wasn’t singing it.
