“Mean” songstress Taylor Swift is mere days away from the release of her third LP Speak Now (out October 25 worldwide), and to ramp up the promotion across the pond she appeared yesterday on BBC Radio 2’s Great British Songbook. Of course, Taylor isn’t British. But the members of Coldplay are, so Swift and her band turned out a soothing acoustic rendition of the UK band’s 2008 smash “Viva La Vida.” Watch below.

Swift recently spoke to Billboard about the criticism that is often thrown at her. And one jab she often gets is that her live vocals aren’t always up to scratch. Still, in watching the below clips, you can tell that she’s been working to step up her game.

“I care about what everyone thinks of me, and I’m not afraid to say that,” Swift told Billboard. “There have been times when it’s absolutely leveled me and ruined my day.”

Well, give yourself a pat on the back, Tay—that “Viva La Vida” cover was spot on, not to mention actually quite moving!

Here she is singing her recent Top 10 hit “Mine,” which was the first single issued off the upcoming Speak Now.
